Spinal lipomas are the most common form of occult spinal dysraphism and include lipomyelomeningoceles. The familial occurrence of lipomyelomeningocele was reported by Seeds and Powers (1988). Kannu et al. (2005) described a family in which 2 successively born sibs were affected by lipomyelomeningocele. The parents were nonconsanguineous.
