Congenital ptosis is characterized by superior eyelid drop present at birth.
Epidemiology
Prevalence is unknown.
Etiology
Isolated congenital ptosis is unilateral in 75% of the cases.
Genetic counseling
Two patterns of inheritance have been described in familial cases: autosomal dominant and X-linked.
Management and treatment
A medical or surgical treatment can potentially be proposed, depending on the severity of ptosis.
