Other symptoms related to this may include feelings of grandiosity , distractibility , and hypersexuality . [1] While hypomanic behavior often generates productivity and excitement, it can become troublesome if the subject engages in risky or otherwise inadvisable behaviors, and/or the symptoms manifest themselves in trouble with everyday life events. [2] When manic episodes are separated into stages of a progression according to symptomatic severity and associated features, hypomania constitutes the first stage of the syndrome, wherein the cardinal features ( euphoria or heightened irritability, pressure of speech and activity, increased energy, decreased need for sleep, and flight of ideas) are most plainly evident.
Vervet monkey mothers with amygdala lesions were shown to be much less caring with their young neglecting and even abusing them. [9] Rats with amygdala ablations become much more docile. [9] Monkeys with lesions to the anterior temporal lobe develop a disorder known as Klüver–Bucy syndrome , characterized by loss of fear, hypersexuality, hyperorality, and an inability to recognize visual objects (often, but not always). [9] Evidence shows the amygdala accounts for the emotional, oral, and sexual abnormalities listed above. [9] These abnormalities coincide with several characteristics of the diagnostic guidelines for autism, at least passably for an animal model.

Associated signs and symptoms of their renal disease may include fatigue, dehydration, blood in urine, and/or other evidence for the presence of the nephrotic syndrome or renal failure. Further studies may find that these individuals have histological or other evidence of LECT2 amyloid deposition in the liver, lung, spleen, kidney, and/or adrenal glands but nonetheless they rarely show any symptoms or signs attributable to dysfunction in these organs.

A rare rheumatologic disease characterized by recurrent self-remitting episodes of acute monoarticular arthritis, often with a fixed periodicity, typically affecting the knee or another large joint, which develops an effusion over 12 to 24 hours with only mild to moderate pain and minimal signs of inflammation. Attacks last three to five days and may parallel menses in females. Systemic symptoms are absent, and no joint damage occurs.

Hydronephrosis Hydronephrosis is swelling of one or both kidneys. Kidney swelling happens when urine can't drain from a kidney and builds up in the kidney as a result. This can occur from a blockage in the tubes that drain urine from the kidneys (ureters) or from an anatomical defect that doesn't allow urine to drain properly. Hydronephrosis can happen at any age. Hydronephrosis in children may be diagnosed during infancy or sometimes during a prenatal ultrasound before the baby is born. Hydronephrosis doesn't always cause symptoms. When they occur, signs and symptoms of hydronephrosis might include: Pain in the side and back that may travel to the lower abdomen or groin Urinary problems, such as pain with urination or feeling an urgent or frequent need to urinate Nausea and vomiting Fever Failure to thrive, in infants Causes Typically, urine passes from the kidney through a tube called a ureter that drains into the bladder, and then out of the body. But, sometimes urine backs up or remains inside the kidney or in the ureter.
In this condition, the cartilage of the rib cage, particularly the cartilage that joins the ribs to the breastbone, becomes inflamed and painful. Sore muscles. Chronic pain syndromes, such as fibromyalgia, may cause long-term pain that affects the chest muscles.
Don't give aspirin to children, because it may trigger a rare, but potentially fatal, disorder known as Reye's syndrome. These medications will usually lower your temperature, but you may still have a mild fever.
Sometimes this is called athlete's heart or athletic heart syndrome. It's unclear whether the increased heart size in athletes can lead to stiffening of the heart muscle and disease.
Never give aspirin to children or teenagers because it has been linked to Reye's syndrome, a rare but potentially life-threatening condition that causes swelling in the liver and brain.
For other uses, see Sore throat (disambiguation) . Sore throat Viral pharyngitis , the most common cause of a sore throat. Sore throat , also known as throat pain , is pain or irritation of the throat . Sore throat is usually caused by a viral infection or a group A streptococcus (GAS) bacterial infection. [1] Other causes include pharyngitis ( inflammation of the throat), tonsillitis (inflammation of the tonsils), or dehydration , which leads to the throat drying up. It can also result from trauma . The majority of sore throats are caused by a virus, for which antibiotics are not helpful. [1] A strong association between antibiotic misuse and antibiotic resistance has been shown. [2] For sore throat caused by bacteria (GAS), treatment with antibiotics may help the person get better faster, reduce the risk that the bacterial infection does not spread, prevent retropharyngeal abscesses and quinsy , and reduce the risk of other complications such as rheumatic fever and rheumatic heart disease . [1] In most developed countries , post-streptococcal diseases have become far less common. For this reason, awareness and public health initiatives to promote minimizing the use of antibiotics for viral infections has become the focus. [1] Approximately 35% of childhood sore throats and 5-25% of adults sore throats are caused by a bacterial infection from group A streptococcus. [1] Sore throats that are "non-group A streptococcus" are assumed to be caused by a viral infection.

[7] This trend is reflected in the protective effects of pregnancy, parity and breastfeeding against ovarian cancer, [8] [9] and similar findings in epidemiological studies that have indicated a reduction of risk associated with use of oral contraceptive pills. [10] [7] Ovulation is accepted as the cause of ovarian cortical inclusion cysts, the precursor lesions of serous carcinomas, and lower numbers of these cortical inclusion cysts are thought to be the mechanism by which reducing lifetime ovulations can lower the risk of developing HGSC. [11] Conversely, a temporal association with menopausal hormone therapy and incidence of HGSC was found, [12] and polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) was shown to contribute to a doubling of the risk of ovarian cancer. [13] Endometriosis can increase risk for other ovarian cancer subtypes, but is not associated with HGSC. Specialty Emergency medicine Graft-versus-host disease ( GvHD ) is a syndrome , characterized by inflammation in different organs, with the specificity of epithelial cell apoptosis and crypt drop out. [1] GvHD is commonly associated with bone marrow transplants and stem cell transplants . ... It can be seen as a multiple-organ autoimmunity in xenotransplantation experiments of the thymus between different species. [27] Autoimmune disease is a frequent complication after human allogeneic thymus transplantation, found in 42% of subjects over 1 year post transplantation. [28] However, this is partially explained by the fact that the indication itself, that is, complete DiGeorge syndrome , increases the risk of autoimmune disease. [29] Thymoma-associated multiorgan autoimmunity (TAMA) [ edit ] A GvHD-like disease called thymoma-associated multiorgan autoimmunity (TAMA) can occur in patients with thymoma. ...
